Emeri was diagnosed with ALL on June 19, 2006. She was 23 months old.
It all started with Emeri always getting sick, each illness would take longer to go
away and finally the last one was a temp of 103 with no obvious signs. Our
pediatrician took a blood sample to check to see if it was a viral or bacterial
infection and found blasts in her peripheral blood.
We were sent to Texas Children's hospital that night, where they confirmed what
our doctor had seen and scheduled a bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture
for the next day. Emeri was considered and early responder and on her 2nd
birthday July 21 2006 we got the news, she was in remission. Emeri has done
great on treatment; she has had a few small road bumps but has proven to be a
very strong fighter. It has and continues to be a difficult road for our family, but
we have been blessed with amazing friends and family and of course all the
wonderful doctors and staff that give Emeri her treatment that has supported us
and helped us through this very long hard road.
